Our Approach

Our program represents the culmination of years of experience and passion for education. Having worked extensively in both public and private schools throughout Seattle, our directors decided it was time to create something truly unique—an environment tailored to meet the diverse developmental needs of children.

Urban Play Collective is a learning center that provides personalized, interest-based education in a play-rich, supportive environment—rooted in the principles of DIR/Floortime (developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan), and the SCERTS model (developed by Dr. Barry Prizant). We prioritize emotional regulation, communication, and relationships over compliance, supporting each child’s development through connection, curiosity, and co-regulation.

When public or private school doesn't feel like the right fit, we offer an alternative. Many of the children who come to us are ones for whom traditional school environments simply aren’t working. We've created a space where kids feel safe, seen, and excited to learn—a place where they truly want to be.

At its core, our program is designed to provide holistic support embedded directly into the daily program. This includes integrated occupational, speech, and behavioral support, ensuring that children receive the assistance they need as part of their natural day-to-day experiences.

What We Offer:

  • Individualized academic support tailored to your child’s learning style

  • Hands-on projects inspired by your child’s interests

  • Social-emotional learning and community building

  • Collaboration with homeschooling programs—we provide the instruction and documentation required to meet Washington State homeschool compliance

  • Nature walks, museum visits, city exploration, and real-world learning

  • Support for neurodivergent & neurotypical learners through strength-based approaches

  • Integrated occupational and speech therapy services during the school day

  • A strong sense of community, with monthly parent drop-ins and learning opportunities to support connection and growth

Flexible Enrollment Options:

Our model is designed to support both full-time learners and those who benefit from part-time enrichment, therapeutic services, or community-based learning experiences.
